Mitcheldean Community Library

It is over  four years since  Mitcheldean Library became Mitcheldean Community Library. We are proud to say that our library provides services to and draws volunteers from Mitcheldean, Lea, Drybrook, Longhope, Huntley, Ruardean Hill and the surrounding areas.

Thanks to our team of dedicated volunteers it is growing in every way:

Did you know that we buy new books every month?

Our shelves are stocked with many of the latest publications....Call in and tell us who your favourite authors are.

We have a well stocked Junior Section and the library participates in the annual Summer Reading Challenge.

We now have a Donations Policy: we accept books less than two years old in new condition. Books more than two years old but not more than five years,in good condition will be accepted as we can sell these to increase revenue to buy new stock. Not more than 12 books at any one time please. We need lots of space for new books! Withdrawn stock is sold and also helps to buy new stock.

You can request items from the County Library catalogue, either online or at the library counter. We also supply items from our stock to other libraries on request from their customers.

If eBooks are your thing, using your library card you can request downloads.

If you enjoy magazines, again using your library card, you can download titles such National Geographic,New Scientist,Hello and many more.

Black/white and colour photocopying facilities are available. You are able to print from your PC, iPad/Android directly to the copier using our free Wifi.

Public access PCs are available to use in the library using your library card.

We have a Computer 'buddy' system if you have a new device and need help to get started, please book a help session at the counter or by 'phone.

If Local History is your passion we stock a good range of local books, some  available to borrow, some Reference only. You can also access local/family history information via the County Library Network website.

We serve fresh tea, coffee & hot chocolate on request. Why not relax with a cup whilst you browse the daily news papers?

We sell stationery, greetings cards, USB/pen drives all at very competitive prices.

Many groups/clubs use our library as a meeting place. Access for all is easy as the entrance and interior does not have steps or raised areas.
